Nintendo Switch family friendly games

Last year’s Black Friday came with a surprise for me and our 6 years old daughter. Daddy ordered a Nintendo Switch console and some family friendly games. Because we spent (and we’re still spending) most of our time at home, due to the pandemic situation – we work from home, our daughter sometimes has online classes – Nintendo Switch was a fun and entertaining acquisition.

A few words about Nintendo

Nintendo is a well known Japanese multinational video game company that develops video games and video game consoles. Nintendo Switch was released in 2017. It is a tablet with two detachable controllers named Joy-Cons. You can connect it to the TV or use it as a portable gaming device. The Joy-Cons can be paired to create a single controller, or used separately by two players. Nintendo Switch video games can be downloaded online, from the Nintendo store or they can be physically bought in the form of a card.

The things we absolutely love about Nintendo Switch are the platform’s many family friendly video games and the ability to play some of them using the game motion sensor (playing games and exercising at the same time).

Our favorite Nintendo Switch family friendly games:

Nintendo Switch Mario Party Superstars

Mario Party Superstars

Mario Party Superstars is the perfect video game for families. It is a party board game that can be played by 1 to 4 players. You throw a dice then move around the board. After each turn you have to compete in a random mini-game. The game ends after you complete a selected number of turns. The winner is the player who has the most stars at the end of the game. Mario Party Superstars’ 10 playable characters are the heroes and villains of the Mario classic game (Mario, Luigi, Wario, Waluigi, Peach, Rosalina, Yoshi etc.). You can’t find inappropriate content in the game. Although there is violence, it is represented in a cartoonish way, no blood involved.

Mario Super Party is an excellent family game. It is fun, entertaining, with unexpected twists. It develops hand-eye coordination, dexterity and logical thinking and, beside these it’s a means of teaching children how to lose gracefully.

Give it a try, you won’t regret it!

Nintendo Switch Just Dance 2022

Just Dance 2022

Just Dance 2022 was a new fun experience for us. Almost every child loves to move and dance, so Just Dance 2022 offers hours and hours of dancing with various songs and nice visual effects. The idea of the game is to mirror the dancers’ choreography. The songs included in the library are rated from Easy to Extreme, but the good part is that the game also has a Kids Mode with cute dancing characters and slow paced songs which is accessible to young children. Just Dance 2022 comes with a free library of 41songs, but you can have access to more than 700 songs if you unlock Just Dance Unlimited Subscription. However, when you purchase the game you get a 1-month free trial for Just Dance Unlimited. The game supports up to 6 players. You can play in competitive or co-op mode.

For a better experience you can use wristbands for Nintendo Switch when you play Just Dance 2022.

We had a blast when we played the game for the first time. Our daughter already chose her favorite songs: Levitating by Dua Lipa, Chandelier by Sia, Mr. Blue Sky by Electric Light Orchestra, Black Mamba by aespa (에스파) and the super funny Chacarron by El Chombo.

Exercise while having fun or get that party started!

Nintendo Switch Mario Kart 8 Deluxe

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is a fun kart racing game with simple controls – accelerate, brake, jump and use item – and a Smart Steering option for younger kids who have trouble staying on a course without falling off or knocking into walls. You can steer your cart either using the Joy-Con stick or using the motion controls. We recommend the Joy-Con Controller Grip and Steering Wheel – they are comfortable to hold and enhance the gaming experience.

The game offers 42 characters to play with, 32 tracks in eight cups (Mushroom, Flower, Star, Special, Shell, Banana, Leaf and Lightning), with an additional 16 later released as downloadable content (Egg, Triforce, Crossing, and Belland) and four levels of difficulty – from 50cc to 200cc. The game has local multiplayer for 2-4 players and up to 12 players can race online. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is a great gaming experience and we love playing it together. Competing in cups at 50cc against our 6yo daughter is challenging and extremely fun for all of us. She hasn’t beaten us yet, but she gets better and better.

Start your engines and enjoy the ride!

Nintendo Switch Jump Rope Challenge

Jump Rope Challenge

Jump Rope Challenge is a video game created by a small group of Nintendo developers. They were working from home, in Japan, during lockdown in 2020. The game’s intention was to encourage you to get up on your feet and add some movement to your daily life during difficult times.

Jump Rope Challenge is pretty straightforward: your character is a cute little rabbit that jumps rope along with you. You can change the bunny’s costumes. You control the character by using your Joy-Cons as handles. There is a counter that keeps track of your jumps. After 100 jumps, the background of the game changes, but you can change your Daily Challenge goal to less or more than 100 jumps per day. To add more fun, the game allows two players to play in co-op mode to complete the challenge.

Jump like no one is watching!

Nintendo Switch Mario Kart Live Home Circuit

Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit

We recently ordered Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit. We’re eagerly waiting for the package to arrive and we expect it to be as fun as all the games above.

We love our collection of Nintendo Switch family friendly games. We have lots of laughs playing them together. It’s all about fun, exercising and quality time spent together as a family.

So, what are your favorite Nintendo Switch family friendly games? Do share!
